Forrest Yoga uses intelligent sequencing and specialized use of props to awaken some of the most important structural muscles of the body. The Intensive: Forrest Yoga
In this intensive you will gain tools that you can apply to your existing practice, discover ways to work poses that will make them feel brand new!
Finlay's teachings will cover different areas in the body through a range of different postures. By the end of this weekend you will have learned Forrest Yoga tools for navigating the shoulders, gradually sequencing your backbends, exploring the intricacies of back and the different issues that can arise in this area, and finding delight in inversions and arm balances no matter your level!
Saturday Session 1: Unlocking the Shoulders
Learn various ways to engage the shoulders and upper back through Forrest Yoga skills, muscle testing, and sequencing to deepen your understanding of this complex joint.
Saturday Session 2: Therapeutic Backbends
Do backbends make you nervous? They shouldn't! When a class builds gradually, and the focus is on space rather than depth, backbends are easy to love! In this class you will learn to apply new sequencing techniques to your backbend practice, allowing to you find freedom and joy in your backbends.
Sunday Session 1: Heal Your Back
Back pain can be exactly that, a pain! Using the tools of Forrest Yoga Finlay will teach you the relationships between groups of back muscles, unconscious posture, and how you carry yourself in your practice. This class gives you more insight into the range of issues that can arise in this area of the body and how you can tap into your own healing abilities through your practice.
Sunday Session 2: Forrest Yoga Inversions
Inversions are the poses that often bring the most excitement to your practice. In order to defy gravity, you have to be fully present and engaged in what you are doing. This class will get you on your hands, even if you are brand new to yoga or usually avoid going upside down. You will leave this session feeling triumphant with renewed faith in your own abilities!
Finlay Wilson is a certified Forrest Yoga teacher, Forrest Yoga Guardian-in-training and Senior Yoga Alliance teacher. He is the founder and principal teacher of Heart Space Yoga & Bodyworks in Dundee and is a widely sought-after international yoga teacher. Finlay began Yoga in 2007 following surgical procedures on both legs and used Yoga for his rehabilitation. Finlay has completed over 1000 hours of training with Forrest Yoga Certification Programmes along with over 1000 hours of Ashtanga and Vinyasa training. He leads classes all over the UK, features on his online Yoga channel at Mat2Mat, presents at Yoga conferences and performs asana demonstrations at events and fundraisers. We are gathering at the beautiful St. Laurentius church, owned by YogaToday in Amsterdam-Weesp, only a 15-minute train ride from Amsterdam Central Station. The stunning church is transformed into a fully equipped yoga studio, offering you all the comfort you need for this training. During your lunch break, you can have a stroll along the picturesque canals in Weesp. There are different lunch options and stores, or you can enjoy the weather sitting on one of the terraces by the water.
